According to experts, the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon is one of a kind, not just one of the most prestigious mountain races in the world but also unique. Mud and cold are are bread and butter of this race. Kilian Jornet won it almost as many times as Rafa Nadal won the Roland Garros: nine times! In his own words: Zegama is Zegama. Zegama-Aizkorri is a very technical, highly challenging race. It is one of the most relevant trail-running races internationally and one of the 6 events in the Golden Trail World Series, where the best runners in the world meet up. It is also one of the 5 events in the Golden Trail National Series.

Zegama-Aizkorri Mountain Marathon has taken in Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park since 2002, starting and finishing in Zegama, where the whole village takes part in the organization of their biggest event. The atmosphere in Zegama and the natural park that weekend is just something that you have to experience for yourself.

From Zegama you can reach the top of Outzarte (652 m) to make a route that goes through mountain paths and walkways of extreme beauty. They run through beech woods, cliffy areas of living rock and high pastures.

– Ehunmillak Ultra-trail: starting and finishing in Beasain, it’s a 168 km race with 11,000 metres of positive altitude. It goes through 30 villages in Guipúzcoa during its course and through the natural parks of Aralar and Aizkorri-Aratz. The ground of the race is 60% path and 33% track. Just to give you an idea of the harshness of the conditions, the first participant crossing the finish line takes almost a day (22 h), and the last one arriving takes 2 full days.

– Goierriko 2 Haundiak: starting and finishing also in Beasain, this race is 88 km long with 6,000 m of positive altitud (70% path and 25% track). It goes through the whole region of Goierri and the two most iconic peaks: Aizkorri and Txindoki. The first runner usually arrives to the finish line in 10 hours, and the last one makes it in 22 hours.

- Marimurumendi Maratoia (MMM) welcomes every runner for the weekend of the ultratrail races. We also organise a mountain marathon of 42,195 km and 2,300 of positive altitude that goes through paths and mountains in Beasain where one of the most popular characters in Basque mythology -Mari- lives.
